Health Equity for Immigrants

Everyone should have access to health care. But federal restrictions and state austerity cuts have left many immigrants without the critical health services they need to thrive and contribute to our state.

We are gathering stories from impacted community members to tell our state legislators why it’s time for Washington to join other states. Immigrants are part of the social fabric of U.S. society and deserve the same opportunities to access quality health care as citizens.

Please submit stories of impacted community members who identify challenges regarding accessing healthcare, cost of receiving care, and dealing with chronic conditions while being uninsured or underinsured (including those who don’t have insurance due to their immigration status). 

A staff member from WAISN may follow up.

Please fill out the “Community Advocate” sections if you are submitting stories and work for a community agency.

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN), Asian Counseling & Referral Service (ACRS), Northwest Health Law Advocates (NoHLA), the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Washington, and many others have partnered to work on health equity for immigrants. Public health coverage programs include immigration status restrictions, which exclude many people from accessing these vital programs.

Campaña de Equidad de Salud

Cobertura médica para inmigrantes: WAISN y nuestros socios lanzamos nuestra campaña de Equidad de Salud para inmigrantes y refugiados exigiendo a la Legislatura del Estado financiar los costos iniciales para crear el programa de cobertura en salud para inmigrantes que incluye a las personas indocumentadas.

El programa será similar a Apple Health (Medicaid) para personas de bajos recursos que cumplan con los niveles de pobreza determinados por el gobierno federal. Mientras tanto, las agencias trabajan para proveer opciones a las personas con mayores ingresos. del FPL.

Estamos recopilando historias de miembros de la comunidad afectados para decirles a nuestros legisladores estatales por qué es hora de que Washington se una a otros estados. Los inmigrantes son parte del tejido social de la sociedad estadounidense y merecen las mismas oportunidades para acceder a una atención médica de calidad que los ciudadanos.

Envíe historias de miembros de la comunidad afectados que identifiquen las dificultades con el acceso a la atención médica, el costo de recibir atención y el manejo de condiciones crónicas sin seguro o con seguro insuficiente (incluidos aquellos que no tienen seguro debido a su estado migratorio).
